Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC)
The Veterinary Oral Health Council sets the standard in veterinary dental
care using guidelines developed by veterinary dentists, dental scientists and
representatives from relevant organizations including the American Dental
Association (ADA), AVMA and AAHA. The Council awards the VOHC Seal of
Acceptance to products that meet pre-set standards for plaque and tartar
retardation in dogs and cats, following review of data from trials conducted

The American Veterinary Dental Society (AVDS) was founded in
1976 for the purpose of creating a forum for advancing the

Academy of Veterinary Dentistry (AVD)
The Academy of Veterinary Dentistry (AVD) is an
international organization that recognizes individuals who
dedicate a significant part of their professional activities
to the research, instruction and practice of veterinary
dentistry. AVD is dedicated to the continued improvement of
practice standards and knowledge in veterinary dentistry and
encourages instruction and research at veterinary medical

American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC)
The American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC) is the
clinical specialist organization for veterinary dentists,
accredited by the American Board of Veterinary Specialties
of the American Veterinary Medical Association. AVDC
provides support of training programs for veterinarians who
wish to become certified as Diplomates in the College. AVDC
also plays a major role in prevention of oral disease by
sponsoring the Veterinary Oral Health Council. |

Academy Veterinary Dental Technicians (AVDT)
The Academy of Veterinary Dental Technicians is a recognized
specialty for technicians governed by the National
Association of Veterinary Technicians in America. It was
started in 2000 and tested the first set of candidates in
June 2006. Technician specialties provide the credentialed
veterinary technician with a way to advance his or her
career while doing what they love most. The AVDT strives to
help educate other veterinary professionals in the field of
dentistry and to uphold the highest level of care for our
clients and their companion animals. |
